A powerful storm on September 11th has led to catastrophic flooding in the North East regions of Libya, and fears of mass casualties loom large. Reports suggest that over 5,000 individuals have already lost their lives, and there are thousands more missing.
Cities in the east, including Benghazi, Sousse, Derna, and Al-Marj, have all been severely affected. In Derna, which houses around 100,000 residents, two dams reportedly collapsed, resulting in widespread submersion and the tragic drowning of numerous individuals.
In response to this crisis, Al Ianah is launching an appeal for emergency packs, priced at £50 (zakat applicable). These packs will contain vital items such as food, water, blankets, as well as medical and hygiene supplies, aiming to provide essential assistance to those affected by the devastating floods.
- Food Packs: A donation of £50 can provide essential food packs to families who are facing hunger. Your generosity can ensure that they have access to nutritious meals during these challenging times.
